According to Philippians 1 :28-30, there are 2 things to know when we suffer for the sake of Christ.
(1) It is common. You are not alone. Suffering has always been the way of gospel advance. The places on the planet today that are experiencing the greatest moves of God are the places that are also experiencing the heavi- est persecution. When we grab the hand of Christ, we cling to a nail-scarred hand!
(2) It is a gift. God’s not mad at you, He hasn’t forgotten you. He’s simply found you worthy to suffer for the great- ness of His name. You see when we suffer for His name and yet keep praising His name, it shows the world that Christ truly is our supreme treasure! He is worthy and He is worth it!
Weekly Reflection
We won’t compromise our faith when we truly believe what we have in Christ is far better!
…and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.
